These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and FairLedger, LLC ("FairLedger," "we," "us," or "our") governing your access to and use of the FairLedger application and related services (collectively, the "Service").
By creating an account or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Age. You must be at least 18 years old to use FairLedger.
Eligibility. FairLedger is intended for adults managing shared financial and parenting responsibilities. You do not need to be a legal parent — guardians, co-caregivers, and others with shared financial or parenting obligations are welcome.
Geographic scope. The Service is currently available to users located in the United States only.
Accuracy of registration. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating your account and to keep that information updated.
FairLedger provides:
FairLedger does not provide:
You are solely responsible for the accuracy of data you enter and how you choose to use your records.
Records and legal proceedings. FairLedger provides structured, timestamped records as a service feature. We make no representations or warranties regarding the legal admissibility, evidentiary weight, or suitability of any records for use in legal proceedings, court proceedings, or any official process. Users bear sole responsibility for determining how to use their records.
FairLedger is designed so that submitted records cannot be edited or deleted after submission. This is an intentional design feature, not a limitation. By using the Service, you acknowledge and accept that submitted records are permanent and cannot be changed. If you are uncertain about a record, do not submit it.
This means:
FairLedger is a shared tool. Once you and your co-parent are linked:
FairLedger does not adjudicate disputes between users, verify the accuracy of submitted data, or take sides in disagreements between co-parents.
You agree to:
You are solely responsible for the content you submit to the Service.
You agree not to use the Service to:
When you use FairLedger's invite feature, you represent that:
The invited party will receive one invitation email before agreeing to these Terms. They must actively accept the invitation and complete account setup to access the Service.
When you create a recurring transaction rule, you authorize FairLedger to automatically post transactions on your behalf according to the schedule and parameters you configure. You acknowledge that:
If you joined FairLedger using a beta access code:
Subscription. Paid access to FairLedger is billed on a subscription basis through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis.
Free trial. New accounts receive a free trial period. During the trial, full features are available at no charge.
After trial ends. When your trial expires, your account will transition to read-only access. You will be able to view all existing records but will not be able to add new transactions, send messages, or use other features requiring an active subscription until you subscribe.
Failed payments. If a payment fails, we will provide a 7-day grace period before restricting access. You will receive notice during this period. Restore access by updating your payment method.
Refunds. Monthly subscriptions are non-refundable. Annual subscriptions may be refunded in full if requested in writing within 7 days of purchase; after that period, annual fees are non-refundable. You may cancel your subscription at any time, and access will continue through the end of the current billing period.
Price changes. We reserve the right to change subscription pricing at any time. We will provide reasonable notice before price changes take effect for existing subscribers.
Your data. You retain ownership of the data and content you submit to FairLedger.
License to operate. By submitting content to the Service, you grant FairLedger a limited, non-exclusive license to store, display, and transmit your data solely as necessary to provide the Service to you and your linked co-parent.
Analytics. We do not currently use your data for analytics or product improvement beyond operating the Service.
FairLedger's property. FairLedger owns all rights to the platform, application, software, branding, and intellectual property underlying the Service. You may not copy, reproduce, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from any part of the Service.
By you. You may delete your account at any time through the Settings section of the application. Account deletion is immediate and irreversible.
By us. We may suspend or terminate your account if we determine, in our reasonable judgment, that you have violated these Terms — including but not limited to: submitting knowingly false records, harassing another user, or engaging in illegal activity through the Service.
Effect on the other party. If one co-parent's account is suspended or terminated, the other co-parent retains full access to shared records until their own subscription ends. The remaining user may export their data at any time.
Effect of your deletion. When you delete your account, you will lose access to the Service. Historical shared records may be retained as needed to preserve the other party's access to their own shared data. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for details on data retention.
We reserve the right to modify, update, or discontinue features of the Service at any time. If we discontinue the Service entirely, we will provide at least 30 days' notice to allow users to export their data.
No warranties. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of data loss.
Data accuracy. FairLedger does not verify the accuracy of user-submitted data. We are not responsible for errors, omissions, or inaccuracies in records submitted by you or your co-parent.
Data loss. While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, we disclaim liability for data loss resulting from technical failures, errors, or circumstances outside our control.
Legal proceedings. FairLedger provides structured, immutable, timestamped records. We make no representations about the legal admissibility, evidentiary weight, or usefulness of these records in any court, proceeding, or official process.
Liability cap. To the maximum extent permitted by law, FairLedger's total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of the Service shall not exceed the total amount you paid to FairLedger in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Consequential damages. In no event shall FairLedger be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.
If you have a dispute with FairLedger, we ask that you first contact us at support@fairledger.app and attempt to resolve the issue informally. We will make a good-faith effort to resolve disputes within 30 days.
If informal resolution is unsuccessful, disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California. You consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts and waive any objection to venue.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
